The weather for yesterday's planned ride didn't look promising, so Henry postponed the ride for a day and it was well worth it. You missed out if you were'nt able to make it.

Fifteen or so riders participated in the Upper Sacandaga ride under ride leader smilin' Henry Wilkie. The ride departed at 10 AM from the Edinburg school with sunny skies, temps in the upper 60's and a whisper of a breeze. No arm warmers, leg warmers or toe warmers needed. We started with a quick uphill then quite a bit of downhills until we got over the Batchelorville Bridge (which is one lane traffic for the foreseeable future during the construction of it's replacement). Still not a whole lot of color in the hills yet, but it won't be long. Paybacks for the downhills came later, with climbs of West Mountain Rd, Military Rd, Bradt Hill and Airport Rd.

The groups split up mid ride, with some taking the 52 and others taking the 64 mile tour, meeting at the country store on CR4 with about 14 miles to go. Sure seemed like we spent a lot of time going up, up, up in the last 10 miles - good hillclimbing practice.

Only one flat and a few minor mechanicals in the groups for the day. The groups rolled in to the parking lot mid-afternoon with sunny skies and temps in the mid-upper 70's. You really couldn't have asked for a nicer ride. I'm pretty sure this is an annual event that occurs at the end of the "almost guaranteed nice weather" season, so put it on your schedule for next year....

Credit again to Henry for a well planned ride that took us over quite a few freshly paved roads. Credit also to his faithful sidekicks that went with him to preview this ride to ensure that there were no closed or under construction roads on our path.

PS - Henry's final "Wacky Wednesday" ride is this upcoming Wednesday, Sept. 28th. Hope everyone can make it..
