Hiya Folks,

I've had a Trek 7500 for three years, and have cycled thousands of miles over the past few summers. I love the 7500, but am starting to think of getting another faster and lighter bike as well, now that my cycling skills have improved.

I like the look of the Trek Pilot line, because the bikes seem to place you in a slightly more upright position than a typical road / racing bike. I'm not planning to race, but just to get more miles on the road and do longer rides.

So, my question is: had anybody had experience riding a Trek Pilot? I would be interested in any advice you could give me, good or bad.

On a related note, does anyone around here rent bikes? I can go to the Downtube and test ride a bike around the park, but that obviously isn't the same as going on a decent-length ride on a bike one is considering purchasing.

Cheers,

- Gene

I had one of the lower end Pilots with the aluminum frame. The ability to have the tops of the handlebars at the same height or slightly higher than the seat is a blessing. It puts the drops where you can actually use them. I buy and sell bikes fairly compulsively which is the only reason I no longer have it.

Thanks for the response - much appreciated. After trying out several bikes, I eventually purchased a Serotta from Blue Sky bicycles. I'm still keeping my Trek 7500 though Smile.
