Just a suggestion that it would be great to have a PayPal link to pay membership dues online. Writing checks and snail mail are so yesterday.

Cheers,
Barry
(who still isn't back on the bike yet but still fighting)

Barry, first and most important, our best wishes on your recovery. We're hoping to see you on Tuesday rides when you can get there.

Second, ahhh, paypal. 6 months ago I was working on code for this, I even had some up and working in test in the Paypal so-called sandbox.

Then I got absorbed in working on the new release of Ravennuke (a fork of PHPnuke) and the software that this website runs on. I've gotten totally absorbed in that project and I've neglected our site as a consequence.

I agree with you totally on the desirability of a Paypal link. Would you like to work on it? I have half completed code just waiting. Smile

By the way, you should see a fairly major face lift for this site by mid-February as Ravennuke is released and hopefully after that I'll have a little more time to work on this site.

Thanks very much Frank. There's nothing that would make me happier than being one of the Tues night regulars this season.

I could probably help integrate the PayPal link if you're thinking along the lines of a button and form post : https://www.paypal.com/IntegrationCenter/ic_addl-option-standard.html

If it's anything more complicated, I'm not sure. I'm going into surgery on Tuesday and will be pretty tied up with physical therapy etc, so won't have much time. But I'm sure I could do what's shown on that link.

First, good luck with the surgery. Maybe we can talk afterwards.

At the very minimum we are going to need to capture the information about the person who renews or buys a new club membership in some kind of text format to convey to Joanne Petrozzi-Jones, who does the club membership maintenance. You can see what that looks like, a little bit anyway by going into your own membership information to update it. She sees a lot more than that for every member.

Ideally I would like to capture the Paypal information and update the membership database with it. That can be a phase II but it needs to be in the plans.

Also, we are going to need to capture some kind of "I accept" thing, where they read the disclaimer and say I accept. So we will need a screen for that and a place for them to input their name, and when they click I accept we'll want to capture the name, IP address, date, time etc. to a permanent file.

Also, I think for prospective members under 18 where we need parental consent we are going to just say "web application processes don't apply, just mail the thing in with a "real" parent or legal guardian signature".

So, yeah, it's a Paypal form but there is more that needs to be done and like I said we can talk about it as we go.
