I am a kayaker and LIGHT mountain biker. Most of my riding is on roads so I am interested in a good roadbike for noncompetitive use rather than my clunky mtnbike. I stumbled on a Raleigh Supercourse and have been looking things up on line. It appears to have good equipment but I cant find anything on the frame (atomic 13 R w carbon wishbone seatstays). The bike is about $1000. Is this a good choice?

If this is your first road bike, I'd encourage you to visit a few of the reputable local bike shops, ask a lot of questions, and take some extended test rides. I wouldn't just choose the bike that feels the best on a longish test ride, but also a shop that you feel you can trust to fit you well, service the bike, etc. The fit of the bike is more important than the frame materials or components.
