A big thank you to the club for doing another great job with the annual century. As always, the course markings were great and the rest stops well stocked. My only gripe has to do with the inclusion of the West Mountain Road climb at about mile 62. Too long, too steep for a club century in my opinion. Let’s re-think that one for next year. I don’t think I could recommend this route for a first time century rider.

I'm not sure I agree that club centuries need to be easy. But I do think there should be advanced disclosure of the route profile (e.g., on the Web site as soon as the route is finalized) so that riders know in advance what they will be facing. I (and others) are always willing to generate the profile in GIF form for posting on the Web site, if given the route information. |

I'm sorry but I am not going to change the century route next year, If you are doing the century you should expect hills (easy and steep)... If you are doing the century for the first time and your longer ride is 50 miles plus you have done the 50-mile once... I don't think a century is the right idea... BTW, I did talk to some of those first timer. |

Well if Henry is not changing the Century route then that means Barry can produce a course profile any time he wants. And I will be happy to post it here on the web site. |

Sure - just email me PDF's or GIF's of the route slip and map and I'll make it happen. |

Barry,
What is your email? I'll send the 50, 62 and 100.
The 25-mile is the only that needs a little work. |

The century ride was my 1st ever. My husband and I trained all summer doing long rides every weekend. I have to say you guys did a great job. The route was perfect. Yes, there were some hills and going up West Mountain Rd was a quite a hill, but at around 62 miles you are still fresh and the ride was "sweet" after the climb. I rather face a climb before 70 miles then at over 80. The rest stops were perfect and there was a Stewarts in Corinth to stop at around 75 miles for a quick snack. The finish couldn't be easier for the century riders. All in all great job!

Congratulation on your first century... I am very glad that you like the route... Next year, there will be a reststop to bring a big smile to those who climb West Mountain Rd also water and power bar.
