Armstrong Plans to Ride Leadville 100
Cycling superstar Lance Armstrong says he’s headed for the Leadville 100 mountain bike race in Colorado this summer. The seven-time Tour de France champion made headlines this fall with a sub-three hour performance at the New York City Marathon. If he follows through on his Leadville plans, there’s little doubt that his presence will generate massive media interest in the race.

There is an article in the most recent Velonews (print edition) about the Leadville race and the fact that Armstrong didn't participate. Interestingly, Armstrong's coach, Chris Carmichael did the race (9 hours if I recall). The winner, Dave Weins (42 years old) was just under 7 hours and Floyd Landis was a couple minutes back (yeah for the old guys). The first woman was about 8 hours.

Also, Floyd got 3rd in the Shenandoah Mountain 100 race (Sept 2nd).

Rich (local rider I know) came in 40th! (out of 364 finishers)

I believe Dave Weins has won the race five years in a row (he is an awesome Mt. Biker) and is local to that area so he obviously has the course nailed. Cool
