Monthly Meeting
During the Winter MHCC holds monthly meetings, generally on the first Thursday of each month.  Please check the Bikeabout or web page for the date, location and topic of the next monthly meeting. The ride leaders' meeting and club banquet is usually held in March.  You need to be a club member to attend and vote in club meetings

Joining the Club
One mail reason for joining is to ride with the club.  As per our insurance policy, a non-member can go on only one club ride.  You need to join to go on additional club rides.  MHCC has numerous rides at various paces throughout the Capital District From March through November.  All riders are covered under the club's insurance on club rides, which is supplemental to their own insurance. Members can also place free ads in the newsletter to sell extra bike stuff, or to use the club tools or the club bike trailer. Yet there is much more than "what can the club do for me." Anyone who joins the club is expressing support for a healthy activity that is good for our environment. Also, the club does various education and safety programs with schools and community groups which help to improve our community and world. Finally, there is a sense of community, of belonging to a group that enjoys bicycling. It's fun to be riding and enjoying the scenery, to be a member of a smoothly functioning paceline during a road ride, and to enjoy the camaraderie that can happen during a club ride. The individual membership dues are $20.00 per year which includes a subscription to the club newsletter. The dues for each subsequent member of same household is $5.00. If you would like to join the MHCC, print the Membership Application, complete it, and return it with membership dues to the MHCC Membership Chair. Since February 2010, Bikeabouts will be available on the web page (www.webmhcc.org).  There will be a link to the current issue in the opening message on the page and archival issues will be available in the content area of the page (scroll down a bit).  The new membership application and the renewal forms have been revised to allow you to opt out of receiving a printed BikeAbout by mail.  This will save the club about $1.00 per member per month for those who opt out.

Renewing Membership

A reminder post card for renewing membership to the Mohawk Hudson Cycling Club is mailed around the middle of the month prior to the month when a person's membership expires (e.g., around July 15th for a membership that expires at the end of August). A member can check his/her mailing label on the current BikeAbout to see when his/her membership will expire. Along with requesting payment of the membership dues, the post card also requests updated address information including phone number and an email address (if the member wishes to provide one).

Early renewals are welcome as they reduce mailing costs for the club, and reduce work for the Membership Renewals and Database Manager. Also, if a member renews for more than one year, the renewal rates are reduced for the 2nd and 3rd years. Membership renewals should be sent to the Membership Renewals and Database Chair. If a member wishes to renew early, print out the Membership Renewal Form and send it along with the renewal dues to Joanne.

The table below shows the renewal rates for households with 1-3 or more members.

Joining or renewing online

If you are renewing as a household for more than one person, please mail the form to Joanne as stated above.  If you are renewing or joining MHCC as an individual, you can do this directly through this web page and a link to Paypal.  You must pay by credit card with this option.  Before joining or renewing online you first must be a registered user of this site.  For renewal, the email address that you have previously stored in our membership database must match the email address that you registered on the site with.  If you are a MHCC member but don't have matching emails please use the problem email link on the home page to alert us to the problem.  We will fix it by updating your email addresses and then you will be able to renew online.  If your membership has lapsed you will have to sign up for a new membership through the online system.  The "block" in the upper left cornered  of the home page tells you what we can detect automatically as to your MHCC membership status and whether your emails match.
