Opting out from the Bikeabout
Author: frank kelly. 2265 ReadsAs part of a review of club processes, the MHCC Board has decided to make the Bikeabout available on-line and give members the option to receive it that way in preference to getting it via US Postal Service. This will save the club approximately $1 per member per month for each member who takes this option. A link to the current Bikeabout will be listed in the opening message on the home page while archival copies will always be available through a content area link (just scroll down to Bikeabout in "content").
The options are only accessible to MHCC members who are registered on the web site. And we have to be able to identify you so:
... we have to ask you to bear with us a little to understand how this identification process works. When your register for this web site you create a username and tell us your email address. Let's say your username is Joey and your email is abc@def.com. When you sign on here the web site knows your username and web site email. It takes your web site email and compares it to the MHCC membership tables where you have a separate email address ... whatever you told the MHCC membership person when you signed up. When you sign on, you will see one of three messages in the MHCC "block" in the upper left corner of the web page:
1. " Your username is: fkelly
Your email on the site is: fkelly@nycap.rr.com
Congratulations, your MHCC email matches.
Your MHCC membership expiration date is: 2011-06-16"
or
2. "Your username is: fkelly
Your email on the site is: fkelly@nycap.rr.com
We cannot find a matching email address for you in the MHCC files.
If you are a member, please use the problem email address on the home page"
or 3. "Your username is: fkelly
Your email on the site is: fkelly@nycap.rr.com
Congratulations, your MHCC email matches.
Your MHCC membership expiration date is: 2011-06-16
You receive the Bikeabout by US Postal Service
Click HERE to save the club by just getting the Bikeabout online (PDF)"
of course your username and email will be in place of "fkelly".
If you see the first message, it means that you have already opted out from receiving a printed Bikeabout. Great!
If you see the second message, you need to use the problem email address and write to us. Tell us your name and what email you want to use and we'll confirm your MHCC membership and fix the situation.
If you see the third message, you can click the "HERE" link and the system will automatically opt you out of receiving a printed Bikeabout. If you ever change your mind you can just go into the MHCC membership system and reset the number of copies of the Bikeabout you receive to 1. You'll automatically start receiving them in the mail again.
